　このページでは1976年の全米ナンバーワンソングを紹介します（このページついて）。ここ数年、音楽の聞き方が変わって来たことが、チャート集計にも影響を与えているようです。

　2018年から、ストリーミングデータ（音楽配信）の集計方法を変更しました。また、これまではチャートの日付の1週間前の火曜日（つまり11日前）に発表されていましたが、データ集計から発表までの期間が短くなり、日付の4日前に発表され、よりリアルタイムに近い発表になりました。たとえば最新チャートなら2025年5月3日、発表は4月29日となります。

　日本のキットカットのCMにまで起用されたほど、一時期はブームとなったベイ・シティ・ローラーズの全米ナンバーワンソング。もともと1974年に本国でリリースされた『ROLLIN'（エジンバラの騎士）』に収録。その時はNobby Clarkでレコーディングされていましたが、アメリカ・リリースを狙ってLeslie McKeown（1955-2021。この曲を更新している正に直前に、ヴォーカリストのレスリーがなくなっていました。R.i.P.）がヴォーカルを録り直したもの。
　 私がこの曲を初めて聴いたのはCMソングとして。今では茶の間のお供として日本にも馴染みのあるチョコレート、キットカットのキャラクターソングとして。ああ。なつかしい…

　マッコールが前年に書いた「'Round the World with the Rubber Duck」を聞いたサム・ペキンパー監督が映画『コンボイ』を思いつき、クリス・クリストファーソン扮するラバー・ダック（曲の主人公）の物語を1978年に制作、公開されました。当時、狭い日本に18輪トレーラーを走らせる企画が、何処かのテレビ局で行われていたのを思い出します。コンボイは私の夢でした！

　クリスと言えば、1971年にジャニス・ジョプリンがナンバーワンに送り込んだをMe And Bobby McGee書いています。

　とまあ、関係ない話題でしたが、イントロ一発で体を揺さぶるパンチを持ってますね～　なんかへなへなとしたスティーヴらしい個性的なヴォーカルが、こちらのロック魂と言いますか、煽られていると感じてしまいます（笑）
